I love how fashion comes full circle. In my early college days I wore distressed jeans all the time. Not only did I wear them I ripped them myself. Spending $245 for a pair of jeans that were basically “destroyed” was never an option…it still isn’t, I’m just saying. Looking back I don’t recall what made me do it but I thought it was cool and trendy; not quite sure my parents did however LOL. With my distressed jeans I also wore black leggings under them as I was so conscious of being super thin. Also, I didn’t want to feel the wrath of my dad for showing too much skin. Fast forward twenty years it’s quite the opposite–I believe today’s motto is the more you show the better.
Surely there’s no age limit on who can or cannot wear distressed jeans. Some of you are probably thinking there should be! I also don’t think it’s appropriate for everywhere/place or situation. Pastors I don’t think this is fitting for the pulpit. Folks are taking “come as you are” to an entirely new level. Save it for hanging out with your kids on family vacation.
Here are some of the trendiest distressed looks worn by celebrities. Which distressed look would you comfortably and confidently rock…or NOT!
