Being satisfied with your current situation isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s being content, which does not imply settling or giving up on your dreams. What it means is trusting God, being patient, and enjoying the current season you are in. Patience used to be something I struggled with terribly. I’m not saying I’ve totally overcome it, but I’ve grown and have a better understanding of exactly what it means to wait on Him; that my time is not His time. Often we pray for bigger and better things and once achieved we complain about the burden it brings i.e. a bigger home means a bigger mortgage payment. In every season there will always be burdens and blessings both of which we have to learn to be content in. It’s through the burdens in which we grow and strengthen our characters so don’t wish them away.
When we are content we are increasing the probability of getting what we want down the road. We are showing gratitude. It’s all a test, one that I want to pass. Discontentment is a spirit of complaining and negativity. It keeps you from forward progress. Even though all of your greatest dreams and desires aren’t yet fulfilled, learn to enjoy your current season, appreciate what you have, and celebrate life’s precious gifts. You only have one life to live which cannot be redone. Choose to live a life of contentment and watch your future unfold in a tremendous way.
