I’m always amazed at the opportunities that are placed in my life and it’s for that reason why I often stress the importance of being kind to others. I have to share the story of how I ended up on Elena Cardone’s show, Women In Power, so you can better understand not only my level of excitement but the importance of my message.
Last year while promoting my book, the brother of a mutual friend of my hubby and I tweeted “Elena you should interview Debra about her new book.” First of all I barely knew the person that sent the tweet. At the time we hadn’t even met. He knew of me through his brother. Secondly, I had no idea who Elena Cardone was. If you don’t either here it is in short. Elena, like myself is a model, actress, host and successful business woman. She is married to high powered millionaire business man and motivator, author of several books including “The 10X Rule,” Grant Cardone. Back to the tweet, in no time she responded absolutely, let’s connect and she sent me a direct message. I did my research and made the discoveries I mentioned above. I thought to myself why the interest in wanting to interview me. Fast forward, the interview was initially scheduled for December 2014 but I fell ill and it never happened. I was saddened and thought I’d missed a great opportunity. Recently, I decided to follow up and again she was elated and glad to hear from me so I thought perfect I can still make this happen. I connected with her assistant, chose the date, sent in requested info about myself, and before I knew it I was standing in the middle of their pristine, almost all white décor, the office of Grant Cardone Enterprise. While my exterior appeared calm, cool, and collected, my insides were doing cartwheels and belly flops, over the moon excited.
After chatting briefly the interview began and like everything else the first two minutes or so are nerve wrecking, but I quickly felt comfortable and realized, as I always do, how much I love hosting and chatting with people. What made the interview even more exciting is that we noticed we were on the same page when addressing marital issues. She discussed different points of my book and promoted it. I was ever so appreciative. Shortly after the interview Grant came out, introduced himself, spoke briefly, and took some photos. Like I said it was brief and understandably so he has an empire to run which we totally respected. After the interview, we made our way to the beach and just basked in the moment!
This was yet another experience I can only chalk up to God. Be grateful for all experiences both great and small.
